Roger Federer lost to Alexander Zverev 7-6(1), 6-7(4), 7-6(4) after two hours and 30 minutes during the first match of Wednesday’s Hopman Cup tie between Switzerland and Germany.
But Federer still had a great time playing virtual bongos.
While Belinda Bencic was busy leveling the match for Switzerland with a straight-set win over Andrea Petkovic, the 35-year-old accepted the “Bongo Cam” challenge.

At least I have a backup career as a bongo player 💪🏻 pic.twitter.com/C8xl0pW9Pu

“I mean, it’s easy to do the bongo like that when Belinda played as well as she did in the singles, so I’m happy I didn’t throw her off and she was still able to win,” Federer commented. “My Dad wrote me an email and said, ‘can you please stop that right now.’ And I was like, ‘are you serious?’ And he was like, ‘this is serious.'”
The 17-time Grand Slam champion wasn’t much more serious in the decisive mixed doubles match, but he and Bencic still managed to laugh their way past Zverev and Petkovic to give the Swiss team a 2-1 victory.
