The 2015 Davis Cup title is coming down to Great Britain and Belgium, with the tie to be played two months from now in Belgium. But the 2016 event is already making headlines, as the draw ceremony was held on Wednesday in Santiago, Chile.
Good fortune continues for the Brits and Belgians, who will play at home during first-round action next year. Andy Murray and company will host Japan, while Belgium will entertain Croatia at the bottom of the bracket.
The other opening ties are as follows: Kazakhstan at Serbia, Switzerland at Italy, Argentina at Poland, Canada at France, the Czech Republic at Germany, and the United States at Australia.
Team USA faced Great Britain in round one each of the last two seasons, meaning it was guaranteed to be on the bottom half of the draw with the Brits at the very top. The winner of the United States vs. Australia will go up against either Belgium or Croatia in the quarterfinals. A potential showdown between Murray and Novak Djokovic is possible if Great Britain and Serbia both advance to the quarters.
