Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios lost their second-round doubles match at the Brisbane International, but not before playing what will surely go down as one of the points of the year on the ATP Tour in 2025.
Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus got the best of Djokovic and Kyrgios in a wild exchange, with Mektic and Venus at the net much of the time hitting a flurry of reflex volleys. Kyrgios eventually hit two tweeners and drove his opponents back to the baseline. It ended with Venus firing a cross-court forehand winner.
Mektic and Venus ultimately prevailed 6-2, 3-6, 10-8.
Meanwhile, Djokovic has advanced to the singles quarterfinals with straight-set victories over Rinky Hijikata and Gael Monfils. Kyrgios lost his opening singles match to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in three tiebreakers.
