Richard Gasquet has added former world No. 3 Sergi Bruguera to his coaching team. Gasquet, who is continuing to work with Sebastien Grosjean as well, parted ways from Riccardo Piatti at the end of the World Tour Finals.
Bruguera, 42, is a two-time French Open champion (1993 and 1994). The Spaniard won 14 career singles titles on the ATP Tour.
“It’s not easy to find a coach,” Gasquet explained. “I had been thinking about four or five names but a few were already taken. I wanted to continue working with a foreigner. I talked a lot with Sebastien and he told me that he knows Bruguera well. He has a lot of experience at a high level. He’s easy-going and intelligent. I think it’s a good choice.”
Bruguera will join Gasquet in February after the Australian Open.
