There are three tournaments on this week’s ATP schedule, headlined by the BNP Paribas Nordic Open.
It is an ATP 250 event on indoor hard courts, with 690,135 Euros in available prize money–104,985 Euros of which goes to the champion. Andrey Rublev is the top seed and there is no defending champion, as 2023 winner Gael Monfils is not playing this year. In addition to Rublev, a strong field also boasts Casper Ruud, Grigor Dimitrov, and Tommy Paul.
Rublev is not only the No. 1 seed but also the title favorite. However, the Russian has not been in great form and his path through the draw is riddled with in-form opponents. He could face Alexandre Muller in round two, Brandon Nakashima in the quarterfinals, and Paul in the semis.
The bottom half the bracket is even more formidable, featuring Ruud, Dimitrov, Tallon Griekspoor, Matteo Berrettini, and Lorenzo Sonego. Ruud and Dimitov are on a collision course for the semifinals, but neither player will have an easy time advancing that far. The Norwegian could meet Sonego in round two and Griekspoor in the last eight; the Bulgarian may have to go up against Berrettini in the quarters.

Berrettini captured back-to-back ATP 250 titles in Gstaad and Kitzbuhel this summer. There is no reason why he can’t lift another trophy this week. The Italian is playing well and his big-hitting game can be very effective on indoor hard courts. If Berrettini’s serve is firing in Stockholm, the rest of the field better watch out.

Paul has been outstanding this season and remains in contention for a spot in the Nitto ATP Finals. The American has some work to do if he wants to secure a top-eight spot at the year-end championship in Turin, and this week presents a nice opportunity for him to add to his point total. Paul is a former champion in Stockholm, having triumphed there in 2021.
Tallon Griekspoor +1600
Griekspoor is a good option if you are looking for a longshot play. The Dutchman finds himself in a favorable spot in the bracket, placed in Ruud’s quarter. Ruud, the No. 2 seed, has been struggling of late and he is not comfortable on indoor hard courts. Griekspoor, on the other hand, does some of his best work indoors. It wouldn’t be shocking if he goes all the way this week.
