It will be an all-seeded semifinal affair when David Goffin and Alex de Minaur collide on Tuesday in Antalya. Meanwhile, Jeremy Chardy will try to continue his dramatic week at the expense of No. 8 seed Alexander Bublik.
(4) Alex de Minaur vs. (2) David Goffin
Alexander Bublik has also rolled into the Antalya Open semifinals without dropping a single set, but no one has been anywhere close to as dominant as de Minaur. The 21-year-old Australian has lost only 13 total games through three matches; no set has been more competitive than 6-4 and four of his six sets have been 6-2 or worse. Early season-success is nothing new for de Minaur, who is a two-time Sydney finalist (runner-up in 2018, champion in 2019).
Up next for the world No. 23 on Tuesday is Goffin, who has also won six consecutive sets. However, the 16th-ranked Belgian had to save five match points against doubles partner Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the opening round. He followed that up with much more routine victories over Nicola Kuhn and Stefano Travaglia. This should be a good one, but de Minaur is looking like the clear-cut best player in Antalya.
Pick: De Minaur in 3
(8) Alexander Bublik vs. Jeremy Chardy
To say Bublik and Chardy have taken different paths to the semis would be a gross understatement. Bublik is 6-0 in total sets this week; Chardy has survived back-to-back matches in third-set tiebreakers. The 72nd-ranked Frenchman saved two match points against Jan-Lennard Struff in the quarters, a result that was preceded by a triple-tiebreaker defeat of Fabio Fognini. In that second-round thriller, Fognini served for the match at 6-5 in the third.
Bublik made more convincing work of Salvatore Caruso, Tristan Lamasine, and No. 1 seed Matteo Berrettini. The 49th-ranked Kazakh has been broken only twice this week, saving 12 of 14 break points. Chardy has spent five hours and 29 minutes on the court over the past two days–yet another reason why Bublik should have the edge in this one.
Pick: Bublik in 2
