Berrettini was as low as No. 154 in the world due to injuries but finished the season inside the top 40. The 28-year-old Italian compiled an awesome 32-12 record on the main tour in 2024 and went on a 10-match winning streak this summer with back-to-back clay-court titles in Gstaad and Kitzbuhel.
Mpetshi Perricard climbed from outside the top 200 to No. 30 in the rankings. The 21-year-old Frenchman captured his first ATP title on the red clay of Lyon and also triumphed at a 500-point event on the indoor hard courts of Basel.
Mensik, 19, earned 25 of his 28 lifetime tour-level match victories this season. The Czech is up to 48th in the world thanks in part to a runner-up performance in Doha and a quarterfinal run at the Shanghai Masters.
Russell guided Fritz to a best-ever ranking of No. 4. The 27-year-old American finished runner-up to Jannik Sinner at the U.S. Open and comfortably qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals.
GMP seems like more of a new arrival than an improvement
Exactly. His improvement was constant since arriving on the tour. But their decision may take into account who will be most beneficial in offering the world. Nishikori could go and retire tomorrow.
“award”
Machac was also a bit of a new arrival, also. IMO, its more difficult to do what Draper did. Go from showing occasional brilliance to winning events and being a threat at majors.
and Berretini wasn’t a comeback. He just came back and played the way he does after a break. Nishikori was gone for years and is at the backend of his career.
