Nole.
Muller in SF???
Ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Ricky, You serious?
I don’t think anyone has Muller in the semis. I CERTAINLY don’t.
Quarters then. Whatevs.
Just as hilarious though.
#SplittingHerrs
Muller might not even beat Cuevas, let alone Nishikori.
Zverev in the semis? Possible, but theres Berdych in the way who he’s never beaten.
Berdych? You serious?
Agree with Big Al.
Berdych over Zverev BO5 on grass is NID.
Ricky, you serious?
Berdych “upsets” Zverev.
Crazy world huh.
#HerbertWillWin
Muller already lost to Cuevas
Murray gets revenge over Nole this time .
Disagree with you on this one, but he has a decent shot, more so than last few years.
Think so.Nole has to have a dip in form sometime.
He did,and things are getting interesting!
nole winning it all..GOAT
Quarters:
Djokovic over Raonic in 3
Federer over Muller in 4
Zverev over Delpo in 5
Murray over Gasquet in 4
Semis:
Djokovic over Federer in 4
Murray over Zverev in 4
Finals:
Djokovic over Murray in 5 (biased pick)
Zverev vs. Delpo. WOW.
Naaah, I really doubt that Zverev will make the SFs, let alone the 4th round lol. You gotta remember that he’s only 19, inexperienced, and inconsistent, playing on a surface that he’s barely played in the past except this year where he had success in his home country. I wouldn’t be too surprised if he even loses to Youzhny in R2 given how solid Youzhny is on grass and in grand slams.
I also don’t think Muller will make it that far…he may be already exhausted from the past few weeks, I don’t see a deep run from him.
I also think Anderson has a real shot of upsetting Goffin, and I def don’t think Djokovic will beat Raonic in 3. Milos is having the year of his life, and after a very good performance at Queens I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes out Djokovic.
Wawrinka’s quarter is most interesting because it’s so unpredictable that many players, esp seeds (including Delpo) can make the Qs the SFs. I still think Berdych will make the semis given his previous success on grass and in slams and I think Thiem may very well lost in the 1st round, esp if he won’t be playing his A game, which is hard in the 1st round.
mayer isnt as dangerous in 3 outta 5
i wouldnt have picked Zverev to make the 4th round….until I saw his draw. Who’s gonna beat him?
Mayer/Thiem?
Berdych?
Who’s gonna beat Zverev? Berdych has the best chance of course lol
He has a 3-0 record against him, is more experienced in slams and on grass, is physically stronger in best out of 5, and has been having a better year than Zverev.
better year?
he had a better January
Zverev in semis? Dang Ricky goin bold. Nice. I’m liking the muller in QF. Hope he does well here.
Well on tennis draw challenge i also picked Muller qfs and Zverev sf. For me Gilles is a top 10/15 player on grass courts and he has a really good draw. However, quarterfinals are his max here for sure. As for Zverev he has a really fine draw to, Berdych is totally beatable for him and I have a feeling that this time he beats Thiem (if the Austrian even gets to that match, remember Florian Mayer). I also don’t think he is going to meet Stan in the quarterfinals, I bet Wawrinka gets taken out earlier either by Del Potro or Tomic.
Between post-Brexit depression and the absence of Rafa I’m having difficulty summing up interest in this year’s Wimbledon draw. I’m off to Canterbury Cathedral next week for the ordination of a friend who is about to become the 9th woman to be ordained as a Bishop in England so will not be watching Wimby till next weekend any way.
Hoping to see some of the YoungGen get through to the second week – as long as it’s not at Andy’s expense.
ed,
I am feeling much the same way. But I do want to see if Murray can win Wimbledon this time. I agree about being interested in seeing the young guns do well. Of course, not at Murray’s expense!
I do expect some intriguing and worthy matches. There is a lot of young talent in this game and they have made themselves heard this year. We’ve had a glimpse of the future after the current top players are done.
I want to see if somebody can tie or beat Feds 17.
Ajde Nole!!!
Tennis without competition is boring. Rafa was the only one who consistently provided it. By beating Fed or Djokovic when they threatened to dominate and beating himself (injuries) when he threatened to dominate!
In short , we need another Rafa if the old one doesn’t come back!
Agree with Mary. Im not keen seeing somebody beating Fed’s 17 if there’s no competition. Imo, Rafa is the only one who can provide the competition when he’s fit and healthy – he’s 4-4 vs Djoko at the slams from 2011 onwards; Fed was 2-7 vs Djoko; Murray was 2-8 vs Djoko.
Mary W
The mould was broken after they created Rafa. In the 60 years I’ve been watching tennis I’ve seen most of the great players who went on to become legends but I can think of nobody who matched up to Rafa in his prime. He is the complete package and the tennis world owes him a huge debt for the resurgence of interest in tennis since he burst onto the scene.
You are right ed. Probably we will never see his like again.
Even Peter Bodo admitted tennis needs Rafa. Secretly, the Nole fans are missing him too. Nole’s RG victory and non calendar year grand slam have gone practically unheralded by the media because of the lack of competition which has taken away the thrill and excitement of such feats.
So those 9 FO were boring for you too. Couldn’t agree more.
You should filter out all that bile! I am sure you will feel happier and definitely lighter!
You just said tennis without competition is boring. Which of those 9 were competitive?

ALLEZ ROGER!!
Delusional.
Benny, you cannot be serious!
I recant. Severely biased.
COMPLETELY biased lol!! I’m dreaming but it’s just picks I’m not betting or anything. If I was I would definitely change this up.
I mean I thinks it’s possible though. But kind of a long shot cuz he’s not doing so well lately. If it actually happens I’ll be over the moon. I actually surprised myself by not making it a Roger over Stan final cuz Stan’s my second favorite lol.
Also I typically like to go bold anyways and I guess at this point picking Roger is going bold. Still the guy has won 7 Wimbledons. If anyone is gonna surprise us and rise up out of nowhere here at Wimby it’s Roger. Or maybe Kyrgios.
Federer “from out of nowhere” haha
Come on Ricky you know what I mean haha. By nowhere I meant not a great year and all these injuries and how no one expects that much from him this year. Didn’t mean it like if I said Willis makes a run out of nowhere. That would truly be out of nowhere lol.
i mean it’s funny that what it has come to for Federer is being defined as coming “from out of nowhere”
Then again Marcus Willis has made a run out of nowhere already. A run by his standards of course.
Fed-Willis R2
Oh yeah lol. I mean just that injury really screwed things up. Such a dumb injury too with like hurting himself running a bath for his kids. Really sucks but if he plays well here and goes deep I think he should be able to get some momentum back to turn his season around. He may not be getting any older but the guy seems friggin immortal so I honestly think he might have a better shot next year given this year’s circumstances. Had to pick him though. My head tells me go Novak or Andy but my heart/gut/bias tells me pick Fed again. All in all no matter who wins this tournament looks poised to be really exciting and interesting with lots of upsets and thrilling matches. Can’t wait. Honestly the match happening tomorrow I especially can’t wait for is Willis and Berankis cuz I would really love to see Willis win that. It would be so epic. I have him winning in 5 and I hope that happens. Berankis didn’t really respond to well to Nottingham crowd against Evans so if that was the case there then the Wimby crowd rooting for Willis could rattle him too. If u watch the Evans vs Berankis highlights u could tell Berankis wasn’t happy about the situation lol. Come on Willis!!
Mad props for doing this, I was halfway thru Round 1 and then it took me too long. I’ll just post my last 16 picks and the rest
last 16:
Djokovic wins against Mahut in 4
Raonic beats Anderson in 3
Federer beats S. Johnson in 3
MĂĽller beats Karlovic in 5 (this would be an epic encounter, could very well see this happen too – Ivo has quite an easy path and Cilic has played like shit all season tbh)
Zverev beats Mayer in 5
Tomic beats Wawrinka in 5 (#berniecares!)
Gasquet beats in Isner in 4
Murray beats Kyrgios in 4
QF:
Raonic beats Djokovic in 5 (I really think this could be the year that someone upsets Djokovic here, and if that happens, Raonic is the one to do it.)
Federer beats MĂĽller in 3
Zverev beats Tomic in 5
Murray beats Gasquet in 4
SF:
Federer beats Raonic in 4
Murray beats Zverev in 3
F:
Murray beats Federer in 5 (although I would really enjoy seing Fed win another one, but Murray has just been so good this year
really am as high on Zverev as others…think this could be a special 2 weeks for him.
Wow Tomic in QF. I went bold with Roger but he’s my favorite lol. U a Tomic fan? Lol
#BernieBandwagon
not necessarily a big fan, but I do sort of enjoy the different style of tennis he plays and if his brain is actually engaged he can do some damage. and I just can’t see wawrinka actually doing much, he’s just been so poor this entire year and I think if Tomic gets past Verdasco he does have quite an easy schedule the next few rounds. RBA shouldn’t be an issue for him on grass either, if that’s the 3rd round match.
He will be an issue if Tomic is not motivated but at their best Tomic is better on grass.
Raonic vs Murray in final. Murray to win! I think its time Raonic reaches a slam final and his best bet is on grass.
Raonic played well at Queens so I expect him to continue with that at Wimbledon.
If Andy beats Nole that would be interesting because it would indicate Andy has crossed some barrier in his mind and could offer serious competition to Nole in future. Any other scenario with Nole losing to someone else in some round or in the final could just be a one off. Tennis will continue to be a yawn fest interrupted by some minor excitement. Unless of course nextgen takes over in no uncertain terms.
Dang lots of people high on Raonic here. If he beats Novak I’ll be wowed. Happy but surprised. But he is of course a humongous server so it wouldn’t be as crazy as if Novak lost to him at another slam.
I would certainly love to see it. Would be a great win for Raonic. Also Roger would have a better chance in SF. I just can’t give up on the maestro. #BEL18VE
Benny it is nice to read your posts. Hope your excitement and joy are contagious so everyone here catches the fever soon! Especially me!
Raonic is going to clear the way for Fed to make another Wimbledon final!
but it would be very enjoyable if good grass court players like MĂĽller and Tomic make it far, could very well see this happen and have go bold in a few spots. can’t wait for tomorrow to start. Hoping they’re putting Mayer against Thiem on CC on Tuesday, it would certainly deserve that
that’s not going to happen (Thiem on Center, I mean)
Raonic clearing the way for Fed, however, is a possibility
13 courts to choose from. I don’t know what to do with myself.
will be even tougher being there!!!
It must be quite extraordinary to be at Wimbledon and have so many matches to choose from. I think it would be a wonderful experience just to be there in person.
wont be there till Tuesday, but soon enough
I think it is easier to watch on television than in person. We are not only protected from the weather, we can watch several matches at the same time or switch instantly to different courts.
enjoy it Ricky, let’s hope it won’t rain much this or next week…the forecast looks mostly decent though.
Can’t wait for it to start today, some really interesting matchups already. Glad there’s 5 different Channels here in Germany broadcasting it.
Raonic has a big chance of upsetting Djokovic. Both of these players have matches when they are unbeatable and both have matches when they play horribly. On grass, even if it was slowed a lot, Raonic’s big hitting game makes a lot more sense.
Also, it would clear the path for Federer. And as a diehard fan of the Swiss i still believe he’s going to win that one. If he somehow cruises through his first six matches, he should be able to defeat Murray or anyone else in the final, because as we already know Federer is a player that gets better match by match (but sometimes chokes in Grand slam vs. Djokovic finals)
Chokes vs. Nole? Really? No chance is more like it.
Well Wimbledon 2015 and Us Open 2015 finals were pretty much choking from Roger – just compare these matches to those which he played earlier (at Wimby his best was obv Murray, he played amazing vs Bautista Agut too, at the US Open his qf vs Gasquet was perfect), plus remember of all those missed break point chances – even in the last game of the US Open final he had three break points, but failed to convert them.
I’m not saying that every loss of Fed against Djoko is caused by choking, anyway lately it has been a factor. We saw his level of play suddenly drop when having to faced Nole in those two slam finals, the same was World Tour Finals and the first two sets at Aussie Open. He has a somewhat mental problem with playing Nole. I’m not saying he should have won all of these matches, but certainly should have made them even more competitive. You can have a bad day sometimes, but when it happens regularly against one player, to me, it’s something you call choking. And don’t tell me he had no chance to win Wimbledon or US Open finals last year.
Wimbledon really? He was simply outhit and outplayed in that one. As for the USO, perhaps you’re right in the sense that Federer didn’t capitalize on break appoints that materialized because Novak was serving badly. Having said that, he was again outplayed on his own serve.
Fed was outplayed from the baseline- nice and simple explanation.
Muller in the QFs.
Too funny.
#RobertWillWin
QF favourite Gilles Muller “shock upset” in the 2nd round.
“Federer over Muller in 4”
Hahahahahahahahaha
(Aside: Is this seriously not the softest quarter Fed has ever had? If not, name another. Discuss.)
I think there should be an article on What’s Wrong with Gilles Muller.
Hahahahahahahahaha
Poor Roger will have nothing left in the tank.
