Marcel Granollers led Gilles Simon 6-4, 5-3 and had triple match point on his own serve but could not seal the deal during second-round action at the AEGON Open on Tuesday. Instead it was Simon who stormed back for a 4-6, 7-6(3), 7-6(0) victory.

Simon is joined in the last 16 by Marcos Baghdatis, who sent No. 1 seed David Ferrer packing with a 6-2, 7-6(4) upset. Baghdatis, who got a second-set retirement from Victor Estrella Burgos in his opener on Sunday, held all 10 of his service games while saving two break points in the process.
“For me, the first set was difficult because it was [my] first set back on grass (this year),” Ferrer explained. “He played more hours on court and had more confidence in his game.”
Meanwhile, Wimbledon qualifying continued and saw Americans Ryan Harrison and Austin Krajicek bow out of the tournament. Harrison resumed his rain-delayed match and lost the third set to Guido Andreozzi. American Bjorn Fratangelo successfully battled into the second round.

Amazing comeback by Simon, and Granollers actually played all 3 of those match points fairly well….just a gutsy effort by Simon.
