The 2026 World Cup all comes down to this: Spain vs. Argentina on Sunday afternoon in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Following two very interesting and very different semifinal games, the top two teams in the FIFA rankings have played their way into the championship round.
I am on a 5-0 run dating back to the quarterfinals, cashing Under 2.5 goals in France vs. Morocco, Spain 3-Way ML against Belgium, both teams to score in England vs. Norway, Under 2.5 goals in Spain vs. France, and both teams to score in England vs. Argentina. Spain vs. Argentina best player prop bet: Lamine Yamal to record an assist (+310)
Yamal has recorded just a single point in this World Cup, but he has been getting better and better since beginning the event less than 100 percent because of a hamstring injury. You know the 19-year-old is logging a full 90 minutes (more if necessary) in the biggest game of his career. With Mikel Oyarzabal (five World Cup goals) cleaning up in the middle of the field, Yamal is going to have assist opportunities on Sunday.
Defense has not been a strong suit for Argentina of late. Since posting two shutouts to begin their tournament, the defending champions have conceded in five consecutive caps — a stretch that includes two goals apiece by Cabo Verde and Egypt. They have been burned plenty of times by crosses from the right side into the center of the box, including in the semis when England scored on a pass from Morgan Rogers to Anthony Gordon.
Spain vs. Argentina best player prop bet: Lionel Messi to have 2+ shots on target (+110)
Messi has put multiple shots on target in four of seven caps during this World Cup. That includes four against Austria and Algeria in the group stage followed up a whopping six against Cabo Verde in the round of 32.
The 39-year-old is too good to not get any looks. Against Spain, though, those looks might not be very good. Don’t be surprised if he forces the issue at least a couple of times from long range, requiring Unai Simon to make some saves — albeit potentially routine ones. Given the strength of Spain’s defense, I’m not sure anyone on Argentina’s side is going to score. As such, I like the shots prop for Messi rather than anything involving goals or assists.
