Wimbledon R2 previews and predictions: Djokovic vs. Tsitsipas, Auger-Aliassime vs. Prizmic

It will rematch of two different Grand Slam finals — this time in the second round — when Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas clash at Wimbledon on Wednesday. Felix Auger-Aliassime continues his campaign against Dino Prizmic.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. (7) Novak Djokovic

Djokovic and Tsitsipas will be squaring off for the 15th time in their careers when they meet in round two at Wimbledon on Wednesday evening. The head-to-head series stands at 12-2 in Djokovic’s favor, and he has won 11 times in a row against Tsitsipas dating back to 2019. They have faced each other three times at Grand Slams and twice in slam finals, with the Serb triumphing in a five-setter at Roland Garros in 2021 and in straight sets at the Australian Open in 2023. They have not met since 2024, when Djokovic prevailed 6-3, 7-6(3) on his way to gold at the Paris Olympics.

The story, of course, is much different in 2026. Neither player looks like a major title contender — at least while Jannik Sinner remains in the tournament. There is a reason why they are now colliding as early as the second round, and that reason is Tsitsipas. The 27-year-old Greek was at the mercy of the draw as an unseeded entrant because he is struggling down at No. 87 in the world and holds a 3-5 record in his last eight matches dating back to Madrid. Although Tsitsipas did well to defeat Hugo Gaston 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 on Monday, that does little to suggest that he is ready for an opponent of Djokovic’s caliber. The 39-year-old has not won a major since the 2023 U.S. Open, but he is still advancing to semifinals on consistent basis.

(3) Felix Auger-Aliassime vs. Dino Prizmic

Prizmic’s talent is well documented — just ask Djokovic, who lost to the 20-year-old this spring in Rome. Only injuries have held Prizmic back, reducing him to a ranking of 89th even though he is playing well this season. The Croat has won 12 main-tour matches in 2026, including a four-set victory over Adam Walton in the Wimbledon opening round.

Up next for Prizmic on Wednesday is Auger-Aliassime, whom he has never faced. The fourth-ranked Canadian’s Wimbledon results have underwhelmed over the past five years, but he brings what should be a very dangerous grass-court game to the table. It was certainly working on Monday, when Auger-Aliassime destroyed Alexander Shevchenko 6-3, 6-1, 6-4. Prizmic probably won’t go away as quietly as Shevchenko did, but the underdog would much rather play this matchup on a slower court.

  1. Couldn’t bring myself to watch a match where the result was pretty much a foregone conclusion before it even started sorry
