Wawrinka winning the social media game during coronavirus era

Stan Wawrinka has been the big winner on social media so far during this indefinite time away from tennis due to the coronavirus pandemic. Wawrinka celebrated his birthday last week, cloning himself in a Twitter post so that he wouldn’t feel alone while also receiving messages from fellow players. The clones have made multiple appearances, in fact.

In addition to Twitter, the 35-year-old Swiss has engaged in frequent Instagram Live chats with good friend Benoit Paire.

In one Instagram Live session they poked fun at Stefanos Tsitsipas, who has had a couple of well-documented problems with his overly hands-on family of late. At the 2020 ATP Cup, for example, he infamously whacked his father with his racket.

Wawrinka: “Did you see Tsitsipas’ video, in his yellow jacket? He has decided to quarantine himself away from his family.”

Paire: “That’s good, considering he tends to hit them with his racket.”
