Monday Night Football in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL season begins with a showdown between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans. Tampa Bay comes in 1-0, while Houston is 0-1.
Let’s dive into my Buccaneers vs. Texans predictions.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Houston Texans best bet #1: Texans -2.5 (-108)
Houston may have lost in Week 1, but its defense was outstanding in a 14-9 setback against the Los Angeles Rams. The Texans held L.A. to 84 rushing yards and had quarterback Matthew Stafford under pressure most of the afternoon. Their offense was rough, but we have seen enough from C.J. Stroud and company to know that it’s only a matter of time before they get going again. The Bucs’ defense struggled against the pass in Week 1, watching Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. throw for 298 yards. Tampa Bay mustered just one sack and three quarterback hits. On the other side of the ball, the Bucs are still missing wide receiver Chris Godwin and offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs. It can be argued that Wirfs is the best OT in the entire league. It’s a small spread and Houston should be able to win by at least a field goal at home.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Houston Texans best player prop bet: Nico Collins Over 76.5 receiving yards (-114)
Collins was kept in check by Los Angeles (25 yards) in Week 1, but the story will probably be much different in this matchup. Tampa Bay was No. 29 in the NFL against the pass last year and watched Penix throw the ball all over the field at their expense last weekend. They got little to no pressure on Penix, and failing to do so against Stroud yield even worse results. The bottom line is that Collins’ Week 1 starts are the aberration rather than the rule. He went for 1,006 yards in 12 regular-season games in 2024 (83.8 ypg average) and had 12 catches for 203 yards in a pair of playoff games.
