Stephen Curry remains out for the Warriors, which is obviously the only reason why they are underdogs at home. It does mean that Golden State may not win on Monday night, but the home team should be able to cover with 5.5 points going in its direction. After all, Minnesota has hardly been impressive in the early stages of this series. The Timberwolves do own a 2-1 lead after initially trailing 1-0, but they haven’t even been dominant with Curry on the sideline. Yes, the ‘Wolves cruised 117-93 in Game 3; however, they dropped Game 1 at home by double-digits even though Curry played just 13 minutes and Game 3 was back-and-forth until the final two minutes (after Draymond Green fouled out on a questionable call).
If not for Green scoring a mere two points and Brandin Podziemski going 1-for-10 from the field on Saturday, head coach Steve Kerr’s crew could be up 2-1. Jimmy Butler and Buddy Hield have been outstanding for the most part during these playoffs. Butler scored 33 points in Game 3; Hield shot 4-for-8 from three-point land. It was nothing new for Hield, who is 13-for-25 from the land of plenty so far in this series. He also went 9-for-11 from three in Game 7 against the Rockets, so his hot streak has been going on for a while now. If Golden State continues to get that kind of production from its role players, Game 4 should be close.
