Warriors vs. Timberwolves preview

The Golden State Warriors will be making a quick turnaround after round one when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center for Game 1 of this Western Conference semifinal series on Tuesday night. Golden State needed seven games to get past the Houston Rockets, squandering a Game 6 close-out opportunity at home only to dominate the finale in Houston on Sunday. The Warriors scored 103 points or more in the last five games against the Rockets, while the Timberwolves went for at least 116 points three times during their five-game romp over the Los Angeles Lakers. As for the head-to-head, three of the four regular-season meetings between Golden State and Minnesota finished with at least 216 points.

Another relatively high-scoring affair should be in store for Game 1. In five games against the Lakers, four different Timberwolves players led the team in scoring. Julius Randle averaged 22.6 ppg during the first-round series, almost exactly four points higher than his regular-season average. Stephen Curry was once again outstanding in the first round against Houston and he is also getting plenty of help from the likes of Jimmy Butler and Buddy Hield. In fact, Hield scored at least 15 points on three occasions against the Rockets–including a 33-point eruption in Game 7. All things considered, Over 207.5 looks like a great play for the series opener.

Pick: Over 207.5
