The Pacers have done well to make this series competitive, but there is no doubt that they are the inferior side. Both the NBA Finals and the entire season as a whole confirm as much. Indiana also could be without its best player in Tyrese Haliburton for Game 6; at the very least he will play but be compromised due to a calf strain. Haliburton scored four points on Monday and did not make a single shot from the floor. As the unequivocally worse team and at less than 100 percent, the Pacers will surely want to slow the game down. That isn’t what they are accustomed to doing (eighth league wide in pace of play during the regular season), but they simply have to in this situation. The fewer possessions, the less chances Oklahoma City has to completely pull away.
The over cashed in Game 5, but that was mainly because of a 63-point fourth quarter in which OKC’s lead was getting out of hand a commitment to defense was lacking. It was by no means high scoring the entire way. As for Game 4, it resulted in only 215 points. Points are not coming easy, which isn’t surprising since the Thunder led the Western Conference in scoring defense during the regular season.
