Andy Murray is making a quick recovery from an ankle injury sustained at the Miami Open and will be back on the court for the conclusion of the clay-court swing.
Murray has received a wild card for the upcoming Geneva Open, which will take place during the week in between the Rome Masters and French Open. The 36-year-old has not played since getting hurt at the end of the Sunshine Double in late March.
“Iโll be back with 1 hip and no ankle ligaments when the time is right,” Murray joked on social media after completing his Miami third-round match–albeit in a loss–against Tomas Machac.
Murray will be making his first-ever appearance in Geneva.
At No. 77 in the rankings, the Scot has direct entry into Roland Garros. He has not played at the clay-court major since 2020, when he lost to Stan Wawrinka in the opening round. Murray hasn’t won a match in Paris since reaching the semifinals in 2017, when he fell to Wawrinka in five sets. One year earlier he beat Wawrinka in the semis before losing to Novak Djokovic 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 in the title match.
