Both Emil Ruusuvuori and Taro Daniel came extremely close to reaching the fourth round in Indian Wells. Ruusuvuori lost to Alexander Zverev 7-5 in the third set and Daniel led Cameron Norrie by a set and a break before having it slip away.
One will reach the Miami Open fourth round.
Ruusuvuori beat Roberto Bautista Agut in a second straight tournament to reach the last 32 in Miami. He is hitting the ball huge (as usual), so this match will be on his racket against the counter-punching Daniel. Ruusuvuori won their only previous meeting in straight sets at the 2020 Canberra Challenger. I think an in-form Daniel can get a set this time, but the Finn should advance.
