Miami Open R4 preview and prediction: Tsitsipas vs. Khachanov

Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas did well to beat Cristian Garin in his first match at the 2023 Miami Open on Monday, but that is just about where the good news ends for the Greek.

Prior to Indian Wells, Tsitsipas admitted that he was pessimistic about his chances in the Sunshine Double. After all, he had been nursing–and is still dealing with–a shoulder injury. The world No. 3 lost right away in the desert to Jordan Thompson. He at least managed to get past Garin in three sets, but because of the shoulder injury he could hardly hit a backhand effectively and had to resort to slicing.

Khachanov may not be on fire, but he is playing well enough to exploit such a weakness. The Russian’s favorite shot is the inside-out forehand to his opponent’s backhand side, which will work perfectly given Tsitsipas’ current situation.

Pick: Khachanov in 2
