Miami Open R3 preview and prediction: Barrere vs. Eubanks

The most surprising matchup of the Miami Open third-round lineup pits Gregoire Barrere against Christopher Eubanks on Monday.

It also figures to be one of the most competitive. Their only previous encounter came in U.S. Open qualifying last summer, when Eubanks prevailed 7-6(6), 6-7(2), 7-6(4). I would give a very slight edge to Eubanks once again. The Atlanta native always plays his best tennis on American hard courts and he already has four wins under his belt in Miami, having qualified for the main draw (Barrere got in directly). The Frenchman isn’t bad on outdoor hard courts, but all of his best results have come indoors.

Look for Eubanks to pick up another three-set win–and another deciding ‘breaker wouldn’t be surprising since you have to think there will be very few service breaks in the match.

Pick: Eubanks in 3
