Casper Ruud has a ton of points to defend in 2023, including at the Miami Open–where he finished runner-up last year. So far this season he hasn’t defended many, with an alarming 4-5 record. A long year in 2022 followed by an offseason exhibition tour with Rafael Nadal seems to have sapped his energy. Now his confidence is gone, too.

Ivashka, on the other hand, advanced one round in Indian Wells and then pushed Daniil Medvedev to three sets. The Belarusian opening in Miami by crushing Daniel Altmaier 6-2, 6-1 on Wednesday.

On a relatively fast hard court, Ivashka has a good chance of winning this one.

Pick: Ivashka in 3
