Kyrgios' Wimbledon comes to an end, but not before….

Stick a fork in Nick Kyrgios. The hot-headed Australian’s 2015 Wimbledon campaign came to a premature end–at least according to his own expectations–on Monday with a four-set loss to Richard Gasquet.

But despite failing to reach the quarterfinals like he did last year, Kyrgios will undoubtedly go down as this fortnight’s most controversial player.

In the first round he asked chair umpire Mohamed Lahyani if he was being serious and threatened to stop playing:

In the second round he mocked chair umpire Ali Nili:

In the third round he threw his racket off the court and into the stands:

In the fourth round he tanked a whole game…:

…and changed his socks while essentially telling chair umpire James Keothavong to calm down:

After his loss to Richard Gasquet he got into it with the press:

  1. I hope he grows up and looks back in a few years with a bit of shame.. if I were his coach I’d feel quite bad with myself.

  2. Tennis needs a rock star. Fedal are so freaking boring. Nick will mature a bit but some bad boy behavior is fine. Gulbis is just a nut because he never wins. Safin was a bad boy who won occasionally. Nick will be better in the winning department I think.

    • Yes, let’s bring it down to obscenities; decency doesn’t do it. They’ve already got Djoker and Murray doing their bit in that department.

    • filter,

So what is your definition of a rock star? A guy who acts like a lunatic on the court? Who curses at chair umpires and anyone and everyone else when it suits him? That is appealing to you?

I don’t care how old someone is, there is no excuse for that kind of behavior. Kyrgios is a colossal boor and an arrogant jerk. Tennis does not need him!
