Hubert Hurkacz moved into eighth place (seventh not counting Rafael Nadal) with his Moselle Open title last week. Hurkacz, who won the Miami Masters and reached the Wimbledon semis, now has 2,755 points–propelling him past Casper Ruud (2,675 points).

The 12th-ranked Pole beat Pablo Carreno Busta in straight sets this past weekend, while also capturing the Metz doubles title with countryman Jan Zielinski. He is back in action this week at the inaugural San Diego Open.

Three players have already clinched their spots in Turin, which has taken over from London as the host site. Novak Djokovic was officially in a long time ago after winning the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon, while Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas joined him following the U.S. Open.

In reality, though, barring crazy results at upcoming Masters 1000 events in Indian Wells Paris only two spots are up for grabs. Alexander Zverev (4,915 points), Andrey Rublev (4,030), and Matteo Berrettini (3,955) are all in good shape to qualify. Berrettini, in sixth place, is 1,200 points ahead of Hurkacz and 1,665 points clear of ninth-place Felix Auger-Aliassime.

The final two spots are likely coming down to Hurkacz, Ruud, Auger-Aliassime, and Jannik Sinner.

The chase for points continues this week in San Diego and Sofia. More significant point-grabs will be available in Indian Wells, Paris, and at the Vienna 500.
