Federer finally gets back the rights to RF logo

The RF logo is back.

Roger Federer had been without his famous logo since the summer of 2018, when he left Nike for a lucrative endorsement deal with Uniqlo. Nike retained the rights to the RF stamp, so Federer was without it for a year and a half.

Now it’s back in the Swiss’ possession.

Federer took to social media on Tuesday and announced that RF hats will be available starting next week at Uniqlo outlets. They can be purchased in eight different colors.

“After a long wait and extensive fine-tuning, UNIQLO and I are extremely excited to announce the return of the RF hat in eight fresh colors starting December 8th, 2020,” the 39-year-old said. “This hat has meant so much to me and to my fans over the years. It has given us a way to visibly connect, and I have appreciated the opportunity to thrive off this supportive energy.”

Federer missed almost all of 2020 following knee surgery–not a bad time for it given that Wimbledon was among five months of tournament cancellations. The 20-time Grand Slam champion played the Australian Open in January and reached the semifinals.

He plans on returning whenever the Australian summer is held early in 2021…with the RF logo in tow.
