The Nitto ATP Finals wrapped up on Sunday with Jannik Sinner’s victory over Carlos Alcaraz, but the tennis season isn’t over quite yet.
Alcaraz may have lost in Turin, but he still has a chance to end the 2025 campaign on top two times over. The 22-year-old clinched the year-end No. 1 ranking last week, and now — provided he is fit and able to take the court — he can win the Davis Cup with Spain.
It won’t be an easy task for the Spaniards, who no longer have home-court advantage now that the Davis Cup Finals have moved from Malaga to Bologna, Italy. Moreover, a difficult draw pits Spain against a dangerous Czechia squad in the quarterfinals. The eight-team field also includes Italy, Austria, France, Belgium, Germany, and Argentina.
Davis Cup Finals
Where: Bologna, Italy
Dates: November 18-23
Surface: Indoor hard
Draw analysis: Italy’s bid for a three-peat takes a huge hit without Sinner — and even fellow Nitto ATP Finals participant Lorenzo Musetti has been replaced on the roster. Still, the host nation is formidable. Flavio Cobolli and Lorenzo Sonego are expected to leads the way in singles, while Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori make up one of the best doubles teams on tour.
The Italians have an ideal draw, facing Austria in the quarters and then either France or Belgium in the semis. Austria and Belgium are perennially big underdogs, while France is missing Ugo Humbert — a fantastic indoor hard-court player — along with Arthur Fils.
The bottom half of the bracket is stacked with Spain, Czechia, Germany, and Argentina. Germany boasts the second-best player among that quartet (behind Alcaraz, of course) in Alexander Zverev, but his motivation level is a question mark and fatigue could also be a factor at the end of a long fall swing that included Nitto ATP Finals participation. Nobody has more depth than Czechia, whose roster is headlined by Jiri Lehecka, Jakub Mensik, and Tomas Machac.
Quarterfinal picks: Italy over Austria 2-0, Belgium over France 2-1, Czechia over Spain 2-1, Germany over Argentina 2-1
Semifinals: Italy over Belgium 2-0, Czechia over Germany 2-1
Final: Italy over Czechia 2-1

who ya got?
Carlitos now sidelined as well
sensible decision
Best to call time on the season, rest, relax, rehab, both have played at such a high level all year, time to take it easy, nobody will think any the worse if they do 🤔
Yeah and it gives the lesser players a chance to shine
Czechs have solid line up, and motivation.
still surprised they beat USA
It’s looking like it’s between Czech and Germany for who wins now. I’d say Czech cause I’m expecting Lehecka upset win over Zverev.
not a bad pick
Thanks. Now I think Germany will win.
I can’t find coverage. Sky aren’t doing it.
I’d pick Italy in a close one over
Czech , assuming Musetti and Cobolli are playing
Musetti is not
In that case Czech
already out
Why does it say Spain over Netherlands?
congratulations to me!
