Alexander Zverev is the top seed. Carlos Alcaraz would have been the defending champion, but he is sidelined by an injury. The Spaniard beat Jannik Sinner (via a retirement in the first set) in last year’s final.

I’d go for a Zverev vs Fritz final. But the draw could easily scupper that prediction.
hopefully not for Zverev!
Love three of the wildcards in particular. Wawrinka and Monfils saying goodbye to the same tournament and Dimitrov so deserves some good luck after what happened when he got injured at last year’s Wimbledon.
Depending on draws I’m going to predict Dimitrov to go the furthest out of the four wildcards. Anyone going for someone else there, realistically?
I hope Wawrinka and Monfils have excellent days for their R1 matches.
Of the three original wildcards all lost in three sets R1 (more competitive than Venus Williams on the WTA side). Dimitrov was the only one with a breadstick for his winning set but Monfils was also very competitive and fired 16 aces!
Stan Wawrinka didn’t show; does anyone know if he’s not well?
Also they seem to have played five wildcards instead of four at Cincinnati — Marin Cilic and Rinky Hijikata after Wawrinka pulled out. Do tournaments sometimes award extra wildcards instead of replacing withdrawals with lucky losers?
