It will be the first meeting between Arthur Fils and Terence Atmane in this all-French affair. Fils will make his 2026 clay debut on Tuesday, having skipped Monte-Carlo in preparation for the rest of the European clay swing. The world No. 30 is a good clay-courter; two of his three career titles have come on the dirt.
Atmane is just making his way up the ATP rankings; he advanced to the round of 16 in Miami and won a match against American Ethan Quinn last week in Monte-Carlo. This one doesn’t have the makings of an upset; look for Fils to advance in rather comfortable fashion.

Most likely to cause upset in these two matches is IMO Atmane. I know Fils is brilliant when uninjured but Atmane is from the same country and older which would help mentally, and occasionally plays fabulously,

Maybe quantum mechanics could be brought in as well? A tennis player unable to see the ball because they have accurately determined its momentum? Maybe Tsitsipas had that problem a couple of tournaments ago…
