Australian Open R3 preview and prediction: Sinner vs. Spizzirri

Jannik Sinner

Eliot Spizzirri is in the midst of his best-ever result on tour, but it’s safe to say that Saturday finds him in a difficult spot.

One, he is coming off a brutal five-setter against Yibing Wu in round two of the Australian Open. Two (and most importantly), Spizzirri has to go up against Jannik Sinner. That means it is almost certainly the end of the road for the American, as Sinner is the two-time defending champion Down Under and is currently riding an overall 17-match winning streak with titles in Vienna, Paris, and Turin.

It’s hard to see Spizzirri even threatening to win a set in this matchup.

Pick: Sinner in 3
