Shelton hits shot of the year candidate in Madrid loss to Struff

Ben Shelton

Ben Shelton lost to Jan-Lennard Struff 4-6, 7-6(4), 7-5 in round two of the Mutua Madrid Open on Saturday, but not before producing arguably the shot of the year so far.

With Struff serving in the second game of the match, Shelton came up with a passing shot that he flicked from behind his back.

Unfortunately for the 20-year-old American he would eventually lose more than hours after producing such theatrics.

Struff, who got a lucky-loser spot in the Madrid main draw, will now face Dusan Lajovic in the round of 32. Lajovic is coming off a title in Banja Luka and he maintained his fine form by upsetting Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(5) on Saturday.
