I hope Fed does not reach the semis.
Semis: Murray beats Zverev in 4, Nadal beats a tired Federer in 4. Final: Nadal beats Murray in 4
Zverev is in good form, and has a weak field to go against to get to final. If he can hold his nerve, he should win.
Don’t think it is going to be this smooth for Fededer.
I agree. I don’t think Fed is going to have an easy time of it. I am not penciling him in for the final!
Semis: Zverev over Ferrer or Ferrer over Zverev in 5. Could go either way if Daviiiiiid is on game. Rafito over Fed in 4 (hopefully).
Final: Nadal over (____) in 3
I didn’t notice this until someone pointed it out, but Federer’s draw is “Miami 2017 Part 2”! He is slated to play almost everyone he faced in Miami. Tiafo, Del Potro, Kyrgios, and Rafa. The only one he likely won’t face, but potentially could I guess, is Berdych. He is slated to play Thiem in the QF, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it actually ended up being Bautista Agut who he faces in the QF, who he also faced in Miami. I am by no means saying that this is anything to read into, it’s just kind of a funny coincidence. 🙂
Can’t wait til Monday (and I’ll be up there in person on TH!) …and I’m picking GOAT!!!!
I believe Zverev will win the whole thing. I took him at +850 on the early market, great bet if you aske me 🙂
I just heard on ESPN that Murray has withdrawn!
WHY DID HE MESS UP THE DRAW THEN
Thank you!!! That is what I thought immediately! Unbelievable!
I KNOW WE COULDVE HAD A FEDAL FINAL!! DNIT MURRAY
blehhhhhh MURRAY!!!! *grabs forkpitch*
he had a super easy draw too -_-
lmao pitchfork***
too everyone who’s predciting zverev makes it far, I just don’t think he has nearly the stamina he needs to. He started cramping from 2 5 setters in the AO and was fatigued from 10 best of 3 matches. Do ypu REALLY think he’s gonna last 6-7 Bo5 matches??
I personally think Zverev has a tricky draw. Coric second round Anderson third round Sock/Muller fourth round plus Zverev never making a slam QF = trouble.
Eh..Other than Anderson the others haven’t been doing too well, maybe Muller is doing okay. Coric is def not doing well atm. I think Zverev has an easy draw compared to Rafa/Fed (thanks a lot Murray -_-) but his stamina is and will be a huge ??????? until he can prove himself at slams, which he totally hasn’t done yet.
Great player, but seems to lack stamina.
Oh yeah they aren’t in great form that is true. Reason I think it will be tough is because he has a lot of pressure to finally break through at a slam and make the last eight and the draw isn’t easy it’s just not too bad compared to other’s draws. We’ll see how he deals with being one of the favorites having still not made a slam QF. Seem a to me he doesn’t do great in five setters. I would definitely give one of his opponents a great shot in a fifth set with him. Examples are his loss to Rafa in AO (not a bad loss though) and more importantly his Wimbledon loss to Raonic where he really was in command for much of the match. Also I think he lost early in five setter last year US Open to Evans. Might have been four sets though.
I don’t think Zverev will go that far. I agree that he is not physically fit enough when it comes to Bof5 set matches.
I think there is more work to do for Zverev before he is ready to make a serious run at a slam.
Exactly my thoughts.
Now with murray out of that half as well, I really wonder who will make it to the final….
We might have a first time slam finalist.
Cilic is a ?, Zverev is a ?, maybe Kevin Anderson can have a breakthrough??
Thanks for screwing up the whole draw Murray -_-
I WANT MULLER
Murray is seriously an asshole for waiting until the day after the draw to withdraw… I would have been guaranteed a shot to see either Fed or Nadal on Saturday had Murray done the right thing and pulled out before the draw. We also could have gotten the one thing I’ve been looking forward to for months- a Fedal final. Seriously, though… There is no way that Murray wouldn’t have known yesterday morning that he was pulling out. I’ve always liked Murray as a person- this is unexpected from a good guy like him. Extremely disappointing…
Kevin,
You expressed my feelings very well! I coujd not have said it better myself! I agree that Murray would have known before the draw. This was really disappointing on his part.
updated with Murray out
Why is no one mentioning dimitrov ? Finally broke through at Cincinnati and he took Nadal to 5 sets at AO. He has a real shot to make the finals here
This current G. Dimitrov will defeat R. Nadal.
Stuff happens, this morning i was planing to train but immediately i wore my shoes and warmed up a little i couldn’t go through with it.
I didn’t realise how exhausted i was until i warmed.
A. Murray is a great guy, he is not my favourite not even in close but Rafito is lucky that Andy withdrew, Murray would have…
Not “Khachanov over Cilic in 4”
You meant “over Querrey”.
And Big Sam to take it in 4!
Honestly having the hardest time making my picks. There aren’t literally so many toss up matches. So many possible situations at this tournament. Especially in that bottom half.
Are literally*
You’re not alone! I’m agonizing over Tsonga,Johnson or Shapovalov getting to the QF.
I feel like the lack of experience of best-of-5 sets for Shapavolov could prove to be a problem for him. If this were another Bo3 tournament, I would certainly give Shaps a good shot. However, I personally don’t see him making the QF here. It would be great though!
I’m later than ever with these!!

Oops 3 sets for Nadal over paul
Benny! I am so psyched, man. I had been convinced that they were going to have the top of the draw play on the first day, which would have meant that Saturday (day that I have Ashe tix) would have been the bottom half. But if there is a god, they have saved me haha! So I know that Fedal usually play night matches, especially Fed, but I feel like they usually get scheduled for at least one day session each year. And I would think that if they are going to schedule them for one day session, then it would have to be a weekend one because most people can’t attend a weekday day session because they have work. So would it be safe for me to get my hopes up that at least one of Fed or Nadal will be put in the day session on Saturday? What do you think, Benny?
Yes I think it’s likely one will be in the day session. And you can catch the other piece of Fedal on a practice court I’m sure 🙂
Oh snap! I actually didn’t even think about the practice courts haha. I’m assuming that you have to wait in a long-ass line to see a Fed/Rafa practice session? I’m also disappointed to learn that that they demolished the old Armstrong before the new one was even built, so there’s this stupid temporary court with bleachers as “Armstrong”. 😛 It’s actually the same size as Grandstand, just not as comfy! I wonder if they will put the matches that would normally be on Armstrong on Grandstand instead because they are the same size, but Grandstand is nicer? Yeah, the temporary Armstrong has just a few hundred more seats, but I still think that Grandstand should serve as the #2 court behind Ashe this year…
The line for Fed was huge when I went in 2014 but he legit signed basically everyone and Nadal likely does the same.
Don’t think they ever schedule two men’s matches at night so you should be safe! Congrats!!! Well, as long as they’re still there…you never really know, do you?
Haha, yes that is true, Ramara! I am PRAYING that they make it to their projected semi showdown, which would obviously also mean that they play on Saturday. 🙂

My draw is like Lonzo Ball. Might be amazing might be trash.
well sed
ITS A BUST!! SHIT WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED. Rip my draw I’m truly watching as a fan now #screwmydraw #NotSadIMissedTCDeadline
I’m really happy about there being even more opportunity now though. Donaldson or Pouille could go quite far here. I think one of those two will
Make the second week, depending on who wins. I had Donaldson but that’s a tough call. Also if Tomic beats Muller I’m gonna cry
Don’t cry Gilles Muller is doing fine.
PHEW
PHEW
Dang Ricky u got a pretty bold draw too. And Cilic losing to Mayer could for sure happen. I considered having him lose to Kokkinakis because I’m not sure about his health but I figured he’s had a lot of time off so I thought he would be okay. Seems like he’s not that physically good after scraping past Sandgren but maybe it’s just having to knock off some rust from lack of match play.
Also I feel I should’ve just trusted Zverev. He could go really deep here. Or he could lose to Anderson. I DONT KNOW
Zverev won’t lose to Anderson.
Johnson probably will make the semis now. I really freaking hope he does. Would be epic.
Johnson won’t make the semis.
Khachanov losing bad in fourth to Lu. Looks like another shock. No wonder. I mean it’s 2017 and four of the top 11 are out of this event. We’ll have like four unseeded quarterfinalists.
I should’ve gone with my gut on Thompson. I have been unsure about like everything this tournament so I didn’t stick with the pick because I thought crowd would do enough to get Sock through. Jack is just an error machine now. Down two sets to love hitting mindless errors at crucial moments.
Lol this US Open is getting weirder and weirder
Ferrer knocked out, Jack Sock looks like he’s gonna get knocked out, Khachanov knocked out….
Cilic scraped in 4, I wont be surprised if he’s gone by before the second week.
Watch tipsarevic make second week LOL for real though it will be Cilic or Schwartzman. Ricky’s bottom half looking better and better.
I know Sock’s American and all … but MULLER HAS A BETTER DRAW NOW WOOHOO
Bah, who gives a shit if they’re American? Ok, I guess a lot of people care haha, but I certainly don’t, and I’m American… I personally would more feel bad for Sock just because he seems like a decent dude compared to douches like Harrison and Isner (just my opinion of course). I’ll take Muller over any of the American players! Querrey, Johnson, and Sock seem like decent guys, on the surface anyway. Who knows what any player is like behind the scenes, though…
Isner is a great guy from what I’ve seen. Harrison is a it iffy because he can have too big of a temper. Just curious why do u get a douchey vibe from John? Just wondering that’s all. And yes same here Muller over all Americans lol
I think John actually seems like a genuinely nice guy. I just like to rag on him for liking Trump. 🙂 It’s not even a political thing- I have plenty of friends/family who are politically conservative. It’s strictly a Trump-supporter thing. I gave people a pass for a while because I believed that they had some legitimate reasons for voting for him. At this point it’s a completely different story. I just can’t be down with someone who still supports the guy. Just can’t. I do have the occasional family member who still supports him, and I obviously still love them, but it’s difficult for me to associate with them. Like I said- not political. It’s strictly an issue of human dignity for me. So therefore even though John Isner seems nice, and perhaps “douche” is the wrong word, I just can’t really like him if he still believes in Donald Trump.
Ah I didn’t realize he’s a trump supporter. Yeah that’s an L
who says he still does?
Ricky, Isner has openly and strongly supported Trump all along. So until I see him say he has changed his mind, why should I assume he has changed it? I honestly haven’t met anyone personally who has changed their mind on Trump. If anything, I’ve seen some people denounce a few things here or there, but still refuse to admit he is a horrible person to run this country. So I have to assume Isner is the same way until he admits he was wrong.
isner is just a huge republican. That doesn’t mean he wanted Trump to win the republican nomination.
Truth. I don’t actually know who any of the players support I just took Kev’s word for it. I am pretty sure Vandeweghe is a heavy trump supporter though but then again I think I heard that on here I haven’t actually heard it myself from an interview of hers or something. All I know is I overall feel Big John is a really likeable guy. I hope he does well here.
i mean Isner obviously supports Trump over any Democrat. Harrison and Jared Donaldson are MASSIVE Trump fans.
the thing about Isner is that he is a smart guy. Like he isn’t dumb enough to still support Trump. And he certainly isn’t dumb enough to ADMIT that he still supports Trump even if he actually does.
Yes, Ricky, he was very openly pro-Trump all over social media before and after he election.
Oh yeah and Querrey and Johnson are apparently so cool and laid back. They’re chill Californian dudes ? ☀️
King up a break in first set. Zverev will still almost surely win but King is so consistent this could be tougher than expected for Zverev.
i seriously did not expect ferrer to crash like that…
ya know I hope shapo makes it out i srsly give up with this half of the draw
A.Zverev in trouble! Down 2 sets to 1 against Coric!!
Yep, wonder if he’s tired from his late match last night. Well, we knew there were questions about his stamina for slams. We’ll see what he’s made of.
AZverev’s late match was on Monday night, not last night!
Coric just showed some toughness under pressure! Great serving to force a tb!
Earlier in the match, the ESPN commies were saying that Sascha was playing too safe.
This has turned out to be a really good match!
Wow! Coric just beat Sascha Zverev! Unreal! That part of the draw is wide open now!
I have to say that Coric came out and played great tennis. He took it to Zverev. I think Sascha looked uncomfortable and not sharp. This time I was not buying the hype. He hasn’t done anything at a slam yet. He’s not there yet. Now those titles don’t mean so much. He might have overplayed.
More work to be done for Zverev.
AZverev was too one dimensional in the match, didn’t do anything to change the momentum. Coric was the one so used so much varieties to change the match in his favor.
I actually didn’t pencil in AZverev as a fave when I saw the draw; I had Cilic over him first; now that Querrey took over Cilic’s position in the draw, I had Querrey over AZverev in that section.
I feel we may see a Querrey vs Cilic SF in that half of the draw, just like Wimbledon!
Kyrgios out too!?! Wow… Big opportunity for Fedal, as well as Dimitrov, imo.
Ricky is so wide of the mark here:
Quarterfinals
Nadal over Dimitrov in 4
Federer over Bautista Agut in 3
Zverev over Khachanov in 4
Johnson over Donaldson in 5
Semifinals
Federer over Nadal in 4
Zverev over Johnson in 3
Final
Federer over Zverev in 4
😉 😉 😉 😉 😉 😉
Only one out of eight picks is correct, ie only Rafa last man standing!
Oh, Ricky didn’t even pick Rafa in the final, so all wrong.
