The 2026 Davis Cup draw was held this past weekend in Bologna, Italy. A total of 27 nations that are looking to join the host Italians in the Davis Cup Finals learned where their journeys next year will begin.
Italy, which is the three-time defending champion after triumphing over Spain on Sunday, gains automatic entry into the finals since it is hosting. As 2025 runners-up, the Spaniards get a bye to the second round of qualifiers. They will have to win only one tie to make a repeat appearance in Bologna. The other 26 countries in the bracket will have to win both first-round and second-round ties.
2026 Davis Cup competition begins the weekend of February 6. Victorious teams will play the second round starting on September 18.
An especially intriguing first-round matchup pits Canada against visiting Brazil. That is a tie that could feature Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime and Brazilian Joao Fonseca. Whoever advances would likely meet France in September. Among the other potential second-round showdowns are Spain vs. Serbia, Australia vs. Great Britain, and the United States vs. Czechia.
