Very nice to see and I’m feeling good that she will make the final.
Checked my WTA Bracket and I’m in the top 1% 0f 47777 brackets. Most brackets worse than mine? It’s possible to have a very bad bracket and still come out good!
Agnieszka Radwanska (4) and Carla Suarez-Navarro (10) QF is on. Happy to see that Aga has a set point – first set to Aga 61. CSN is not up to snuff. She can do better than that, not that I want her to – I want Aga to win in 2. Winner here will have to play Serena or Maria in the semifinal.
Finally some energetic tennis – Carla is coming to life – momentum changing. But the serving – can’t imagine either of them with much chance in the semi v Maria or Serena. May the best one win. Carla was non-existent the first set. Aga needs to get aggressive – not hang back and just push it back.
ahrrrg…Aga is not winning this as much as Carla is losing it. Carla gifts the game to Aga with unforced errors. Aga serving for the match. Not sure about Aga holding serve…
Carla with a chance to break back. Same ol, same ol… who wants to win?
No, it’s totally fine. I actually like both of them. I am not that much of a Maria fan that it would bother me. I just wanted to see a match. This is embarrassing to see Serena going for a bagel against Maria.
Well, Maria has pounded my favorites so many times that I love seeing her get pounded. Not very sporting of me – taking this much enjoyment in this. Probably won’t even watch Aga v Serena…lol
Day 10 2016 Australian Open – lower half quarter finals
Victoria Azarenka (14) v Angelique Kerber (7)
Vika in 2 unless she’s having a bad day at the office, then in 3.
Johanna Konta v Shuai Zhang
Shuai Zhang #133 ranked qualifier made the quarter final – she’s a great story. But the 47th ranked, Johanna Konta is my pick. Like yesterday’s matches, WTA QF’s are scheduled first on Rod Laver.
Angie is leading 4-0. She playing much more aggressive than she did v compatriot, Annika Beck in the 4th round. Completely different level. Women do it too – change the level depending on opponent.
Nny, bracket update: you passed me. And our brackets are the same from here on out so I think you will end up 3rd in the bracket, me 4th. The top spot is between Ricky aka Phoenix Rising and HawkstradamusOne.
Wow! Things really changed with the bracket. I thought Phoenix Rising was behind all of us. I think that I checked it out yesterday. I was much further behind both you and hawkeye, by about 7 points. Then I checked earlier today and saw that I was in third place.
I knew once Rafa was knocked out in the first round, that picking him to get to the final would cost me in the bracket. Although I made other mistakes. I went back and checked my picks and saw that I had Isner over Ferrer. I can’t imagine what I was thinking when I did that! I even picked him in my prediction on the site the other day! Brain cramp, I guess!
But this is my first time and since I did not embarrass myself, then I may well do it again!
I am keeping an eye on the match. Surprising so far.
Vika made a comeback – came alive and it took Angie by surprise and Angie started serving pants. Now Angie is fighting – serving better but she needs a first serve in and she has to go for it.
Love it if they could both start lighting it up and play well at the same time, lol…ideally that’s what I hope to see.
Angie is trying to hang on and take the first set. Vika was coming back so fast that it put a lot of pressure on Angie. Let’s hope she can serve well for the set. Then Vika get fired up to fight for 2 sets 😀
This is not the best day at the office for Vika.
Kerber is so solid off the ground both backhand and Forehand, Nny. That’s why she’s ranked so high.
Oh dear…Kerber evens it at 5-5
Vika just broke in the second set. She’s pumped.
But can she hold?
Finally – 5-3.
Strycova is trying her best. Can’t help but like her.
There is no more multi-match coverage – I miss the first week already, Nny.
Yes, there aren’t as many matches. I have watching Monfils on my ipad with the espn app, while watching the women on my tv!
lol, Vika is a huge NFL fan.
Go Vika win another AO title!
Vika continues her fantastic form.
Vika is looking so much like her old self. Nice to see!

Oh gosh. neither can hold serve 2nd set. CSN drops serve and Aga can’t hold.

Radwanska advanska to the Semi! It wasn’t pretty but there it is.
THE NINJA
Ninja ghosts into it
Next QF match – Maria v Serena. And I think there’s a thread here for that.
Looking forward to the unseeded but interesting Konta v Zhang QF tomorrow!
and, Vika v Kerber QF.
I was happy to see Aggie get through so easily. She is in very good form. I watched some of it, checking in now and then. It was so one-sided.
Now I am watching Serena and maria. Maria started out well, but things have reverted to form.
grunt city
Yes, no kidding!
It looks like Serena is in full control in the second set up 3-0.
Apologies if you are a Maria fan, Nny but I’m loving this!
Normally, the past decade or so, I do cheer on Serena’s opponents.
rc,
No, it’s totally fine. I actually like both of them. I am not that much of a Maria fan that it would bother me. I just wanted to see a match. This is embarrassing to see Serena going for a bagel against Maria.
Just not any fun to watch! Bring on the men!
Well, Maria has pounded my favorites so many times that I love seeing her get pounded. Not very sporting of me – taking this much enjoyment in this. Probably won’t even watch Aga v Serena…lol

rc,
I agree with your picks. I would love to see Serena and Vika in the final.
Angie is leading 4-0. She playing much more aggressive than she did v compatriot, Annika Beck in the 4th round. Completely different level. Women do it too – change the level depending on opponent.
Vika looks flat. May the best woman win!

the Phoenix always rises our of the ashes. Never leave it for dead!
apropos username!
I wonder what’s up with Vika.
Vika made a comeback – came alive and it took Angie by surprise and Angie started serving pants. Now Angie is fighting – serving better but she needs a first serve in and she has to go for it.

Vika is now coming back. Trying to break so she can even it up. Playing better too.
You did really well, Nny! You are a Bracketeer. Very happy you played.
Angie is trying to hang on and take the first set. Vika was coming back so fast that it put a lot of pressure on Angie. Let’s hope she can serve well for the set. Then Vika get fired up to fight for 2 sets 😀
Wow, Angelique Kerber gets it 63
Come on Vika!
shock city
Vika will win in three
Vika leads Angie 6-0. That’s how I hope this goes – Vika in 3.
Kerber v Halep 3 sets in toronto one of my favorite 2015. And Kerber v JJ Asian swing was good. I picked her to this round v Vika
Too good from Vika! Serving for the set now
Yes! Vika coming back strong in the second set.
Ooh! Kerber went for it and missed! Vika needs to serve it out to get even.
This is not the best day at the office for Vika.
Kerber is so solid off the ground both backhand and Forehand, Nny. That’s why she’s ranked so high.
Oh dear…Kerber evens it at 5-5
i had Vika beating her. So much for that!!!
Kerber just blasted a wicked cc backhand to make it deuce.
Oh no! Kerber breaks!
yeah. Kerber h2h is 1-6 v Serena
Could see the winner of Konta v Zhang maybe making the final?
Konta is fearless. So is the qualifier!
Serena just won the title
I know right. Vika would’ve been tough but now she will probably take title easily or something.
I agree. Vika was the only one who had a shot at beating serena. Vika must be really disappointed.
I must say that it’s nice to see a female Brit competing. It’s been too long.
