I’ve always wondered, why doesn’t Rafa drag Uncle Toni to a warmer place to practice at during the off-season? Look at him all swaddled up in his hosiery
You’d think after a few of the comments pointed out the factual errors that they’d be corrected since it would simple enough to do so. The woman who wrote it is a freelancer who contributes regularly to ESPN, but you’d think that ESPN would at least double-check for factual inaccuracies before publishing articles.
Tennis Channel is showing Rafa – Djoker semi at French Open tonight. I just saw the “net” point. Rafa was really on his heels to that point. That was the turning point. Anyway, anyone wants to catch it again, turn on the TV.
I enjoyed watching the tennis channel’s rebroadcast of that great semifinal between Rafa and Djoker. I think that I still have it on my dvr. Seeing that fifth set again was thrilling.
Rafa handed the Juan Antonio Samaranch Award to Carlos Moya. The annual award was established in 2011 by the Spanish Tennis Federation and Samaranch’s family. The president of the Spanish Tennis Federation said that C.Moya was the first Spanish player to become the number one in the world (March 1999) and he changed the dynamics of tennis in the country – it became more dynamic and youthful. Rafa himself was the first person to receive this award.
C.Moya, who is 10 years older than Rafa, was Rafa’s mentor on the ATP tour (when Rafa was very young) and now they are close friends. https://twitter.com/augustazeight/status/412009499633786880/photo/1
Thank goodness I still have my dvr recording of that RG semifinal match with Rafa and Djoker! Even though the tennis channel replayed it as part of its replay of the entire 2013 RG, I can watch it whenever I want, as often as I like. Great stuff!
@augusta08, Coric is a highly regarded talent. Maybe Rafa wants to pace himself against a future great. Maybe Rafa wants to scout him as a possible signing for his management company. He already has Christian Garin signed up.
“Madrid: Rafa Nadal has set up his own company to manage athletes and organise events with his long-term agent Carlos Costa, the world number five announced on Saturday.
“Together with his manager, Carlos Costa, Rafa Nadal began a new adventure on 1 January in the world of representing athletes of various sports like tennis, golf and football as well as organising events,” Nadal’s spokesman said in a brief emailed statement.”
L’Equipe’s “Champion des Champions Award” ceremony will be broadcasted live tonight at 8:45 PM on French Channel L’Equipe21, and the guests arrival at 8:10 PM.
Here’s a direct link to the L’Equipe21 TV’s website. I’m in the USA and not able to view the program that’s currently playing, but any of the previous programs that have a “Replay” tab next to them, I can view. I’m assuming that current viewing is region restricted but that after it airs the station will make it available on their website. When you go to the website, Tony Parker may appear for his advertisement. The channel will come on in about 5 seconds or so by itself, or you can click on the “acceder directement a L’Equipe” directly above the ad to go directly to the TV website. http://www.lequipe21.fr/grille/

Hmmmm…….I don’t see any women in that team dinner photo, Rafa. Looks like a nice setting, though.

Merry Christmas, Rafa and the team!
How many people are in Rafa’s team? Seems like a good time was had by all.
Rafa’s training partner this week is 16-year-old Borna Coric, who won the US Open junior title
this year. I wonder what is the reason Rafa wants to practice with him.

Rafa has a management company? I haven’t heard of that before. Tell me more.
