Recent quote: “Now the hard-court season is starting. It’s a different story. But at the same time, I’ll keep going with the same mentality and this (Hamburg) title helps to be a little bit more calm and add some points to my ranking to try to finish the year in the top 8 again.”

    • augusta…Do u know why Rafa choose Bratty Tomic[rolling eyes!urgh!] to be his partner?Especially Tomic once again lost in the 1st round at Delray?

      • Mira Andi (AT 11:49 PM),
I don’t know. Rafa usually plays doubles to get some extra match practice and he asks the tournament organizers to schedule his first doubles match before his first singles match. Maybe he thinks that playing one doubles match will be enough. 🙂

  1. augusta…Yeah,we know that Rafa wants a match under his belt but TOMIC?who’s potentially will tank his match just like he did in Delray?Maybe u’re right augusta…rafa maybe just needs one or two doubles win..that is all..

  2. More recently, in January, Rafa said about Bernie, “For sure, he has a chance to be in the top 10. He’s a big talent and he improved a lot in terms of mentality. He has won important matches and is improving. He’s a charismatic player for the tour. He’s a great guy.”

    • Rafa is usually complimentary about other players. He shows respect to them and will always point out their particular strengths.

Kygrios is incredibly gifted. He also seems to have an attitude problem.

Maybe hanging around Rafa will have a good effect on Kyrgios!

      • Yeah, it is a weird concept if you think about it. But On the other hand I guess it’s technically a neutral thing since any potential negative effect would be be equal for both players… It’s especially strange before a really big match, like when Stan and Fed hit around earlier in the day before the 2014 Monte Carlo final. Although that’s not even a great example because there was absolutely nothing those two guys don’t know about each other’s respective game…
