    • Edmund is playing the match of his life. His second serve is vunerable but he has a lot of weapons and for first two sets was drawing UEs from Goffin with ease. Good movement on clay and powerful ground strokes. He’s gone off the boil a bit in third set and is Goffin is back in the match. Still reckon it’s doubtful he has recovered enough to overcome a two set deficit,

  1. Really like Leon Smith’s handling of his players. He does a great job helping to keep them relaxed – none of the hectoring you see from most of the captains.

  2. However his level has dropped, And he is not accustomed to five setters – his serve and footwork have gone off. Mental fatigue taking its toll.

  3. I had to go out suddenly to take a neighbour to hospital so missed the rest of the match.
Had the feeling Edmund had hit the wall. Brave effort on his part though.

  4. I remembered today about the DC. So I did get to see Murray’s match. I didn’t see the Edmund/Goffin one. I need to keep on top of it to see if Murray and company can do it.

  5. The doubles was quite a long way off plain sailing for the Murray brothers. They started off as clear favourites but Goffin (not an experienced doubles man) ably supported by Darcis kept it tense for three sets. Some amazing ding dong rallies but when the Brits broke to go ahead in the 4th set, Andy stepped up the attacking tennis and Darcis faded badly, the writing was on the wall. Andy plays Goffin tomorrow. Fingers crossed the Brits will hold the Davis Cup aloft.

  6. Obviously, I meant if the Brits get one more win then they will win the DC title!

I voted for Murray in 3 sets. Being optimistic. I think he’s going to get it done.

    • Goffin was all but paralysed by nerves for the first two sets on Friday. Yesterday his lack of experience in doubles showed but he managed to control the nerves.

Luckily they will both be tired for their third rubber of the weekend but hopefully they will rise to the occasion and produced a fitting climax to this DC final. it’s quite possible it could go the distance but I’m relying on Murray to get it done in four sets – my nerves wont stand up to the tension of a deciding set.
