Raonic withdrawal leaves four of top 11 out of U.S. Open

Milos Raonic withdrew from the upcoming U.S. Open on Wednesday night, citing a left-wrist injury. Raonic lost his opening match at the Masters 1000 event in Montreal earlier this month and then withdrew from last week’s tournament in Cincinnati.

“I have tried everything in my power to rehabilitate this injury in time for the US Open in order to play an event that is so truly special to me,” the Canadian posted on social media. “However, the pain is too great and, in consultation with my doctors, I am left with no option but to withdraw from the event.”

Raonic, who expects to return for the fall swing in Europe, joins Stan Wawrinka, Novak Djokovic, and Kei Nishikori on the withdrawal list.

Wawrinka, the 2016 champion, is sidelined by a knee injury. Djokovic is shelved by an elbow problem and a right-wrist issue is keeping Nishikori away. All three players are out for the season. The absences of Raonic, Wawrinka, Djokovic, and Nishikori from the year’s final Grand Slam mean four of the top 11 men in the world are missing.

With Raonic pulling out, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will be a top eight seed even though he is ranked 12th in the world. Lucas Pouille, a quarterfinalist last summer in New York, becomes a top 16 seed. Juan Martin Del Potro moves into the all-important No. 24 seed and Robin Haase is now the last seeded entrant at 32nd.

in the same Rolex Cellini Replica style as the team replica watches. I find the engraving far more satisfying, but would have liked to see a bit more depth to it. There is a little more branding on the PRC200. Firstly, Burberry handbags the 6 oclock sub-dial sports a basketball image in grey. Additionally, the pushers are edged with red (top) and blue (bottom), Breitling Replica Watches UK which is, to me, the coolest thing.
